About Charlette
I've been making websites for two years now. It all started when I needed a website for a photography project I was doing. It didn't take
me long to realise that I was putting more effort into making the website than I was the photography project, and that was the beginning
of a passion for web design that took me by surprise - previously I hadn't imagined I would be a computer geek for a living!
In June 2008 Sunstone Media became Sunstone Media Ltd and I left my job with a publisher to focus on making websites full time.
I enjoy the contrast between the creative design aspect and the technical coding. I love the 'problem solving' aspect of finding out what a client wants and how to make that happen on screen. I'm proud to be completely self taught, and have read extensively on the subject - practicing, practicing, practicing. I work primarily with xhtml and css, with a bit of php, java, javascript and mysql thrown in for good measure. Photoshop is my tool of choice for the graphic side of things.
I think web design can be outrageously priced, and everyone should be able to have a good website for an affordable price. I care about what I do, and won't rest until I deliver a website that fully satisfies a clients needs.
Online publishing
As well as web design, we also dabble in online publishing. We started the popular music resource Wellington Live Music as a blog in 2006. It has since expanded into a fully fledged online music magazine, receives an ever increasing number of visitors, and is highly regarded in the local and national music community. Although Charlette put her journalism experience to good use, taking care of most of the writing and photography for the first couple of years, she is now focusing all her time on web design, and the website is in the excellent hands of Crispin Anderlini, a talented writer and photographer passionate about the music scene. Email Crispin at editor@wellingtonlivemusic.com for anything regarding Wellington Live Music. A number of wonderful writers and photographers contribute to the website on a regular basis; if you would like to be part of the team, please get in touch with Crispin.
